Advanced Time Triggers vs Precise Triggers (2026)

Published October 2026 · 6 min read · By Lucas Milanez, who builds Precise Triggers

TL;DR: Both apps fire monday.com actions from the date and time in a column, which monday's native "when date arrives" can't do. Advanced Time Triggers lives inside monday's automation builder, is listed in the marketplace, supports recurrence and is cheaper, but it checks every 15 minutes. Precise Triggers fires within seconds and handles subitems, with three built-in actions and no marketplace listing. If a 15-minute window is fine, Advanced Time Triggers is probably the better buy. If reminders are short (15 or 30 minutes before a call) or deadlines are tight, the delay matters and Precise Triggers fits better.

I build Precise Triggers, so read this with that in mind. Facts about Advanced Time Triggers come from its own listing and blog (linked below) as of October 2026. If something changed, tell me and I'll fix it.

Precision: when 15 minutes matters

Advanced Time Triggers says it plainly in its own guide: it checks every 15 minutes, so a 3:07 PM trigger runs at 3:15 PM. For many uses that's fine. A task due "today at 17:00" doesn't care whether the status flips at 17:00 or 17:12.

It matters when the lead time is short. Say a client call is at 14:07 and you want the owner notified 15 minutes before, at 13:52. With checks at :45 and :00, the reminder goes out at 14:00: seven minutes before the call instead of fifteen. With a 30-minute reminder the delay eats up to half of it.

Precise Triggers schedules a job for each item at its exact moment, so the same reminder lands at 13:52. That's the main reason it exists: SLA warnings, client calls, shift handoffs and launches where the minute is the point.

Other options

monday's native "when date arrives" runs once a day at a fixed hour, which is enough when the time of day doesn't matter (why it fires at the wrong time). Zapier, Make and n8n can poll the board and act, with polling delay and per-task cost (full comparison). There are also other apps, such as Time Based Automations & Reminders and Automato, that I haven't compared in detail here.

How to decide in one minute

  1. Is "up to 15 minutes late" acceptable for your reminders? If yes, start with Advanced Time Triggers' free plan.
  2. Do you need recurrence or a monday action outside notify / status / webhook? Advanced Time Triggers.
  3. Do your reminders have short lead times, tight SLAs, or live on subitems? Try Precise Triggers for 14 days and compare on a real board.
