How to Send a Notification at an Exact Time in monday.com
You have a board tracking deliverables with due dates and times. You want the assigned person to get a notification the moment their deadline hits โ not a vague morning reminder, but a precise "this is due right now" ping.
Monday.com's native notification recipes (like "When date arrives, notify someone") run on a daily schedule. They'll tell you something is due today, but they won't ping you at 15:00 when your 15:00 deadline arrives.
Why native reminders fall short
- Daily batch delivery โ notifications arrive in the morning regardless of the actual due time.
- No time awareness โ the automation only looks at the date, not the time component.
- No custom message โ the built-in notification is generic. You can't include context like "Your client call starts in 0 minutes."
The fix: Precise Triggers + Notify Person action
Precise Triggers reads the full DateTime value from your column and sends a monday.com notification to the person assigned in any People column โ at the exact minute.
How to set it up
- Install Precise Triggers โ click below to authorize in your account (10 seconds).
- Add the board view โ on your board, add Precise Triggers as a view.
- Select your date column โ the one with the deadline DateTime.
- Choose "Notify Person" as the action.
- Write your message โ e.g., "Reminder: this item is due now."
- Create the trigger.
When the DateTime arrives, the person assigned to the item gets a monday.com notification in their bell icon and (if enabled) email/mobile push โ exactly when it matters.
Use cases
- Client calls โ notify the account manager at the exact meeting time.
- SLA deadlines โ alert the support team the moment an SLA window closes.
- Shift handoffs โ ping the incoming shift lead at their start time.
- Content publishing โ remind the editor when a post is scheduled to go live.
- Invoice follow-ups โ notify accounts receivable when payment terms expire.
Combine with a condition
You can add an optional "only run if" condition. For example: "Only notify if status is still 'Working on it'". This prevents spamming someone with a reminder for an item they already completed.
What about webhooks?
If you need to trigger an external system (Slack, email service, CRM) at a specific time, use the "Send Webhook" action instead. It POSTs a JSON payload to any HTTPS endpoint at the exact DateTime. Useful for integrations that monday.com doesn't natively support.
